My husband had to get a kidney transplant a few years ago, and one of the medications he was on before his transplant made him retain a lot of water. He bloated pretty bad (from what I hear, this is before we met) and now has incredibly prominent stretch marks along his arms, legs, thighs, and back.

He used to ask me if it repulsed me, and loving him regardless, I reassured him but have since been aware of his serious self consciousness towards his stretch marks.

This is affecting our lives, as he won’t take his shirt off even around the house. We never go swimming/to the beach, and most outdoor activities end up being short at best because he’s always wearing clothes to cover up his stretch marks and, as a result, overheats.

Is there anything I/we can do?

Palmer’s cocoa butter lotion works really well. It takes several months to notice, but it does fade them (use it twice daily, it takes about 3-6 months but it really improves the appearance of the scars). There are some laser treatments that can be done as well, but they are quite expensive.
